Cara O'Sullivan won the RTÉ Musician of the Future Competition in 1990, represented Ireland in the 1993 Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, was first prize winner in the Second International Stanislav Moniuszko Vocal Competition in Warsaw in 1996, and won the Classical Artist Award in the 1997 National Entertainment Awards in Ireland. Cara has recorded frequently for RTÉ radio and television.

Highlights of Cara's career include Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and Elletra in Idomeneo for Glyndebourne on Tour, Helmwige for The Royal Opera House, Donna Anna, Fiordiligi in Cosi fan Tutte, Violetta in La Traviata for Welsh National Opera, Fiordiligi and Konstanza in Die Entfuhrung for Garsington Opera, The Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute for Opera Nantes, Opera de Vlaamse, Opera Ireland, Opera de Paris, English National Opera, Cincinnati Festival Opera. Other roles for English National Opera include Elvira in Ernani, Fiordiligi in Costi fan Tutte, and Helmwige in Die Walkyre.

Cara's concert performances have included Handel's Messiah at Barcelona's Palau Musica and The Point Theatre in Dublin, Verdi's Requiem at the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall, Mahler's Eighth Symphony at Ely Cathedral, Mozart's Requiem at Canterbury Cathedral. She performed Beethoven'sNinth Symphony at Salisbury Cathedral and the Barbican, Britten's War Requiem and St. Matthew Passion with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin.

Operatic concert appearances include Die Walkrye for The Royal Opera at the Royal Albert Hall, Festival Hall, Edinburgh and at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam; La Traviata at the Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall, and the Birmingham Symphony Hall; Costi fan Tutte at the Birmingham Symphony Hall and the Brighton Pavillion.

Cara was recently invited to perform at the Conservetoire du Nice, France, The Cultural Concert Hall Singapore, The Burswood Theatre Perth, and The Sydney Opera House. 2007/2008 engagements include oratorio performances of Mendelssohn's Paulus with the Guinness Choir; Verdi's Requiem and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra; an opera gala with The Ulster Orchestra; a series of song recitals in Britain and Ireland; a concert tour of Ireland with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. Cara was delighted to be invited to sing the title role of The Lily of Killarney as part of the 250th anniversary celebrations of the Royal Dublin Society in June of 2007.
